Queer and Not Parenting (Not by Choice)

Come be in community to discuss the hard topic of when TTC doesn’t work and we have come to the end of our potential parenthood journey without becoming parents.

This time together will be a mix of resource and workshop. Jenn will share her experience of trying to conceive for nine years and beginning her healing once that chapter closed without having born children. We will go over ways to find and create support and healing in a time of disenfranchised grief - the kind of grief that deals with the loss of dreams, what ifs, and the loss of what was not to be. We will acknowledge the grief and talk about some ways to honor it and grow with it. You are invited to bring a journal, something to write with, a snack and tea or nourishing beverage, and any items that bring you comfort.

Bio:

Jenn Allen (she/her) is a queer and genderqueer fertility advocate, artist, friend, and fairy godparent. She facilitates a national queer TTC peer support group, and believes deeply in the power of LGBTQIA+ community wisdom and support. Jenn is a disability doula of sorts, helping people newly disabled by chronic conditions (like Long Covid and ME/CFS) learn the skills of pacing and rest. When able, Jenn enjoys watercolor painting, strolling along her local lake, and communing with Great Blue Herons.

Disclaimer:

Jenn is not a licensed medical or mental health professional and does not claim expert status in these fields. She offers her lived experience and creates spaces for people to learn and connect with each other to feel just a little less alone in hard times. Please do seek the advice of your professional care team as needed for medical and mental health needs.

MORE ABOUT PREGNANTTOGETHER:

Hi! I am Marea Goodman, LM, CPM (they/them), a licensed midwife, published author, and parent. I have over thirteen years of experience working with folks who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, and am also the founder of PregnantTogether— because I’m deeply passionate about supporting queer folks and solo parents through the whole process of growing their families, and building community in the process.

Note: your first two weeks of membership to our PregnantTogether community is FREE and only $20/mo thereafter with no commitment. This and all future events are always free for community members. In the community you can connect with other pregnant people or folks trying to conceive, receive advice for your virtual midwife (me!) and attend all PregnantTogether events and workshops like this one for free! You’ll also get access to TONS of recorded resources that will make this journey less overwhelming. The community is a nurturing, resourceful, and safe place for queer folks, solo parents, and anyone who has ever felt like they don’t belong in the dominant narrative of what “family” should be.

If you'd like to join the community and receive FREE access to this and all future events, head to community.pregnanttogether.com and sign up. Don't purchase a ticket here! Joining the community gets you free access.
